IFFCO and CIL join forces to produce revolutionary Nano DAP for next 3 years!

In a move towards promoting efficient use of plant chemicals and cutting subsidies, the Indian government has announced that fertiliser cooperative major IFFCO and state-owned Coal India Ltd (CIL) will manufacture Nano DAP for a period of three years. This innovative product is the second from the nano stable after nano urea and is expected to bring about a significant change in the way DAP is conventionally applied.

Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Bhagwanth Khuba, confirmed that IFFCO will be setting up a Nano DAP plant at its Kalol unit in Gujarat with a production capacity of 2 lakh bottles of 500 ml per day. This means that the product will be widely available in the market across the country after commencement of commercial production.

Preliminary field trials were conducted by IFFCO and CIL on select crops in select institutes of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the report indicates that with the use of Nano DAP as seed treatment and foliar application, there is a possibility of saving of granular DAP conventionally applied. This is a positive development for farmers who will benefit from increased efficiency and cost savings.

The government’s promotion of Nano DAP is a significant step towards creating a sustainable agricultural ecosystem, and reducing India’s dependence on imports for fertilisers. It is expected that this new product will help in increasing productivity and enhancing soil health, thereby leading to a better quality of life for farmers and their families.

Overall, the introduction of Nano DAP is a welcome move, and it is hoped that this innovative product will play a significant role in transforming India’s agricultural landscape for the better.
